Tomodachi of the Month - June 2008

(Tomodachi = Friend in Japanese)

June, 2008 - Hiromi Willingham

Hiromi WillinghamName: Hiromi Yabui Willingham

Occupation:
I am a psychotherapist (Hakomi therapy), infant massage instructor, Ikebana instructor

Family:
I have a wonderful husband, Thomas, our sweet son, Theo Seiji, and our dog, Mocha.  I have one sister and two brothers, one of whom is Tomokazu, the Sushi Chef featured last month

What I enjoy most about The Path of Tea is:
The tranquility and sacred atomosphere

My best asset:
Whatever I do is motivated by my desire to contribute to building a world filled with truth, virture, and beauty.  When I think about my life purpose, I get energized and trust the process

To unwind, I: do Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement) in a mindful manner.  I enjoy seeing nature's beauty.  For example, I love touching and feeling a tree, looking up a sky

Hiromi WillinghamMy favorite city:
Hakone, Japan

Favorite vacation destination: I love going to a beach in Florida

All time favorite movie:
A River Runs Through It

I am currently reading: Japanese History: Mokichi Okada (Japanese philosopher ) essays

Best book I have ever read:
The World of Beauty by Mokichi Okada

Favorite Restaurant:
Reaf

Hobbies: Tea Ceremony and Ikebana.  I also love to learn about hakomi therapy, energy work

I collect: Flower arrangement vases -  I get one vase every time I go back to Japan

Favorite subject in school: English (when I was in Japan) and psychology (when I was in an American school)

Favorite Quotation, Cliché or Expression: "Gratitude gives birth to gratitude."

Best advice I'd give to a 20 year old: You are good and loved just as you are.  Strech your comfort zone to learn something good, new, and unimagibable.  There is no such a thing like a failure.  Failure is an oppourunity to make an adjustmnet or collect your path

I'd love to have a conversation with: Buddah, Jesus, and God

People describe me as: Warm, caring, committed

Favorite Tea: Organic Genmaicha and Organic White Peach

Why Organic?

Unlike fruits and vegetables that may be washed (or peeled) after harvest, tea leaves are never washed, so anything sprayed on the tea plants ultimately ends up in your cup.

What are you drinking? more on organic teas
